Overview:

• The goal of the Indian River Homeschooler Association is to diligently protect the privacy and security of each of its members. 

• The meaning of this document is to call attention to the special emphasis placed on privacy and to state plainly the privacy and security measures in which the association takes to limit any information breech. 

Privacy:

• Indian River Homeschoolers Association limits the personal data it collects from members to that which is necessary for the purposes of communicating with its members and carrying on the business of the association, and only retains data for the minimum necessary time period.

• Information about families, contact information, information and ages of children, pictures, email addresses, Facebook and Instagram group pages, and any other information that could be potentially used to harm or inappropriately contact our members will be safeguarded using the highest possible industry standards and never shared publicly.

• We utilize professional software companies that are capable of securing payments and contact information.

• The member has complete control over their password and payment information.

• Sensitive member specific information such as location of co-op, classes and events are not visible to the public

• Administrators and board members abide by the by-laws of the association and must have a greater than 3 year history of homeschooling in our community and participate in IRHSA with children that are actively being home schooled.

Safety:

• Events, trips and classes are private in nature. Thus, all event, trips and class coordinator are able to exclude people or family members for any reason. 

• Anyone attending or coordinating an IRHSA sponsored event, trip, and or class may not consume alcohol or marijuana during the time the event, trip or class is ongoing so that alertness and safety may be upheld.

• An adult 18 years and older may not escort a minor (a child 17 years or younger) to senior celebration, aka prom, without the express written permission of the minor child’s legal guardian.

Collection, use and disclosure of personal information:

• Information that will be asked for and stored by Wild Apricot.org, IRHSA's chosen web hosting platform, is limited to:
• Name
• Email Address
• Phone number
• Credit Card information is solely maintained by third party payment processing companies including AffiniPay and PayPal. 

• We collect and store information for the express reason to communicate within our association and give our members sole responsibility to manage their chosen method of communication. 

• We will never sell or share personal information with any third party. 

• Any member that attempts to sell or use member information for the purpose of financial gain, for the purpose of sexual solicitation, or for unwanted contact to any IRHSA family member will be expelled from the organization and will be subject to privacy law violations. 

• Members and IRHSA reserves the right to press charges for any violation and prosecute to the fullest extend of the law. 

Children's Privacy:

• Children merit special protection under the law and IRHSA will never disclose any identifiable information about any child to outside parties and will limit the information within the association to the minimum needed to safely administer home school activities.
